Very spacious and clean. Everything needed for self catering stay. Bed was firm but comfortable. Plenty of hot water and good heating. Host and housekeepers were very helpful and friendly. Nothing

This is a charming mountain cabin as beautiful as the pictures. It was a great space that let us relax and we liked all the TV options. We wish we could have explored the trails more near the house but we did use it as a launching pad to get into the Smokies. The parking was a bit tricky without a smooth parking space. If there were other cars there it made it hard to park and turn around. I wish there were a larger pan and pot in the kitchen. Cooking for 4 people needs more than small pans.

Amazing property in a private mountain in North Caroline, fifteen minutes from Bryson City. We had everything we needed here for the wonderful time—easily accessible, great location, ample parking space and lots of birds around.

The property was lovely! Easy to access off the main road and an easy drive to town. The view of the mountains in the winter is lovely! The cabin was cozy and the king bed was super comfy! Was like sleeping on a cloud! Appreciated the space heater, we used one to keep the bathroom warm when we were home. My friend in the queen bed was very jealous of my mattress 🤣. Overall, not real complaints. We never got the fire place to work but the host was very responsive when we reached out about that.

⭐ Review of Our Overnight Stay at “The Hiking Bear #43” Cabin – Bryson City, NC We stayed at The Hiking Bear #43 located in the Nantahala Village Resort, and overall, we had a wonderful experience—so much so that we would absolutely book this cabin again! ⸻ Arrival & Check-In We arrived after 10:30 PM, and because it was pitch black outside, the cabin was a little challenging to find. The road signs are hard to read in the dark, especially in the mountains. Thankfully, the manager/owner was incredibly responsive and helpful. He had already provided his phone number through the booking app and had been communicating with us before arrival. When we reached out, he immediately sent a map and reassured us that we could call him anytime—even late at night—if we had trouble locating the cabin or needed anything at all. That level of hospitality really stood out. Important Note About the Door Code The PIN code listed in the booking app was incorrect, and the correct PIN was given to us later by the owner. It would be extremely helpful if the correct PIN could be provided the day before or the day of travel to prevent confusion—especially for late-night arrivals like us. ⸻ Listing Suggestion When I booked the cabin, it was labeled simply as “Mountain Cabin,” and I assumed that was a generic name. It would greatly reduce confusion if the listing said: “Mountain Cabin (Hiking Bear #43)” This would have saved us quite a bit of searching—and prevented a small argument between spouses! 😅 ⸻ Location & Accessibility Once we found it, the cabin was easy to enter. It’s positioned between two other cabins. Parking is right at the road, and you walk down about 10 steps to reach the cabin level. There are sturdy handrails on both sides. I struggle with inclines and have a fear of falling, but this was completely manageable for me—slow and steady. The road signs are hard to read at night! The map the owner sent was very helpful- should be included in the listing photos! Name and number of cabin should also be in the listing!

Excellent cabin to visit smoky mountains. Loved the cozy feeling in the cabin. The blackout curtains were amazing to sleep in. The mattress was extremely comfy as well. The location is right next to Bryson city and has a lot to offer. We hiked one day and did whitewater rafting on the second day.

Great location, cute and cozy cabin! Everything was clean, the kitchen had what I needed, loved the outdoor seating in the front and side. Places to eat or grab coffee are just minutes away. Bryson City is just 15 to 20 minutes away. There's also a lovely farm, and a winery 25 minutes away. Great communication from the host. Exactly the peaceful getaway I needed to reset and recharge. Loved everthing!

We loved the cabin! It was very clean & had everything we needed! Location was peaceful & quite. It was exactly as pictured in the ads. I loved being able to look out the windows & feeling like we were in the tree tops! There wasn't anything that we didn't like but just a couple small issues that could use fixing. The handle on the microwave is very loose & will probably break completely before long. The toilet seat is very loose makes it slide around. It would be best if if it were replaced. Nothing to do with the cabin but we were a little disappointed with the game room. The change machine was out of order so without any dollar bills we couldn't play the games. One pool table did have a few balls out but you couldn't play a real game of pool. The room itself looked like it had not been cleaned in a long time. It could use some updating. I felt like the resort it self was a little run down. We DIDNT USE the pool or fitness room so I can't comment on them. The waterfall looked as tho it had not been up & running in quite awhile & the stage area has been neglected for some time. We didn't go in the restaurant either so no comment on it. The next question below is not a fair question. As far as the cabin is concerned it exceeded my expectations. The resort itself needs some work done to meet expectations it kind of seemed run down. The road in to the cabins need work also. And an after thought the gameroom games should be free as they are used as a feature to draw people to the "resort". I don't want to sound not satisfied or picky. Im just being honest. We really did enjoy our stay at cabin 43 "The Hiking Bear". We hope to come back again.
